CIVXO is a civic-focused social media platform available in India. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect user information in compliance with Indian law.

1. Eligibility

CIVXO is intended only for users located in India. By using the app, you confirm compliance with Indian laws.

2. Information We Collect

• Phone number (for OTP authentication)
• User-uploaded content (images, videos, issue descriptions)
• Location data manually selected by user
• Device and usage data
• Chat messages

3. How We Use Information

• Authentication and account security
• Display issues on public map for 24 hours
• Enable repost/reset functionality
• Content moderation and fraud prevention
• Legal compliance

4. Public Issue Visibility

Issues are visible publicly on the map for 24 hours. Reposting resets visibility for another 24-hour period.

5. Intermediary Status

CIVXO operates as an intermediary under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and complies with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

CIVXO does not create user content and is not responsible for user-generated posts, subject to lawful takedown procedures.

6. Content Moderation

We may remove content that:

• Violates Indian law
• Contains defamation or false allegations
• Incites violence or public disorder
• Contains hate speech or harassment
• Violates privacy of individuals
• Includes sexual or explicit material

7. Lawful Takedown Process

Upon receiving valid legal notice or court/government order, CIVXO may remove content within legally prescribed timelines (including 36 hours where applicable).

8. Government Criticism

CIVXO permits lawful civic criticism and public issue reporting. However, defamatory, inciting, or unlawful content will be removed.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data may be disclosed when required by Indian law or lawful authority.

10. Data Retention

Content may be retained for moderation, compliance, or investigation purposes even after 24-hour public visibility ends.

11. Account Deletion
